Cesar Chavez College Preparatory School specializes in providing research-proven curriculum for its diverse student population and instructed by our Highly Qualified Teachers.

Reading and Literacy Games

Find math and reading games by topic or by grade at FunBrain. Students will enjoy playing a variety of educational games that reinforce concepts and engage young learners. There is also a e-book section.

ABCya has a large variety of educational games for Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade students. Students will have fun while learning about math, language arts, problem solving, and improving their computer skills.

RoomRecess.com is dedicated to providing children with free educational games. Our games reinforce important skills that are vital to elementary students and their learning process. RoomRecess.com was developed entirely by an elementary school teacher with the goal of reinforcing fundamental learning concepts in math, reading, spelling, language arts, and basic problem solving.

Logic and reasoning, math fact practice, and more make up the free educational games at Hooda Math. There are quite a few games that call for higher order thinking and ask students to problem solve to complete the activities.

Designed for students from Pre-K through 7th Grade, Math Game Time offers fun, educational games. From games like Integer War, Ratio Martian, and Jet Ski Addition, students quickly engage with games that are on-target for their grade and the Common Core Standards.

From the Multiplication Grand Prix to the Knight and the Princess, students can practice their basic math skills in a fun and engaging way. There are additional resources available for parents and teachers to help reinforce and teach skills.

Story Place is a digital library created specifically for children. Library materials include free online books, online activities, take-home activities, and reading lists for preschool and elementary students.

This site publishes a new audio story each week. Storynory offers both classic stories and original tales that have been adapted from stories around the world.

Vocabulary games with picutres for beginning readers and ESL students.

The Baldwin Project makes classic books freely available to children online. The project publishes books that are in the public domain (books published before 1923). Books are sorted by author, titles, genre, and subgenre.

Kiddie Records publishes recordings of children�??s records that were made between the mid forties through the early fifties. Recordings include classic stories like Horton Hatches the Egg and Casey at the Bat. All of the recordings can be downloaded or played for free online.

The Story Kitchen offers dozens of story starters to help inspire young writers. Each story beginning consists of a few paragraphs with a note at the end that encourages site visitors to finish the story.

Writing with Writers is a scholastic project that allows kids to work with authors and illustrators in special workshops designed to improve writing and literacy skills. The project also provides featured writing activities and step-by-step writing guides.

This UN World Food Program site offers a great vocabulary-building trivia game for students at any level. Every time a question is answered correctly, Free Rice donates ten grains of rice to hungry people.

Read to Me features popular children�??s books being read by famous performers. There are activity guides with hands-on ideas, discussion questions, and lesson plans that can easily be adapted to the Common Core State Standards. Entirely free, the site is colorful and engaging.

After registering for a free account, you have access to over 250 children�??s audio books that can be used in the classroom. The book text is not part of the presentation, so students will not be able to follow along as it is read to them.

Help prepare your child for the Next Generation Assessments that will be on the computer and online. The students will not only be required to have the knowledge, but navigate the computer and utilize keyboarding skills and the mouse.

This is a great resources for parents and teachers to help teach children with literacy skills.

This non-profit organization is dedicated to improving and promoting children�??s literacy in child care and home settings. Helpful materials on the National Children�??s Literacy Website include general literacy tips, advice on teaching children to read, educational activities, story-time tips, and links to additional resources.

TumbleBooks is a pay-for-use site that traditionally sells licenses to libraries and schools. Many public libraries offer free access to their TumbleBooks account. Students can follow along as the text is read them to help improve comprehension and fluency. Choose from picture books to chapter books.

Providing educators, parents, and students with science articles that are geared toward kids is what Frontiers for Young Minds is all about. Intriguing articles and age-appropriate content make it an excellent and engaging resource.

From pictures to facts to puzzles and games, the USGS provides students and teachers with excellent resources for earthquake education. Students can even ask a geologist a question or for clarification on a topic (think writing center activity!).

Building Big is a wonderful free website that can demonstrate the impact of architectural design on a building�??s strength and ability to withstand natural disasters and everyday weather. There are engineering labs, information about some of the world�??s most interesting (and big!) buildings, and challenges to get students thinking about the importance of design.

Discovery Kids features games, videos, and learning material to keep students busy and engaged. Everything from the solar system to baby animals can be found on the site. A word of caution though, as there are plenty of ads on the site. If you�??re looking for a good resource for parents, however, this might be a fine choice.

Bring the Lorax to life with this science related website from the folks at Seussville, the official site for Dr. Seuss. Conservation awareness was never so interesting as when it�??s combined with the characters in Seuss�?? story, The Lorax. Activities, games, and great information make the site an excellent resource for young learners.

NASA offers students so many wonderful opportunities to learn about different aspects of science and with their Climate Kids site it�??s no different. Focusing on Earth�??s climate and the impact of global change, the site features activities, games, videos, and more. It�??s a great site for a science learning station when you are studying climate and climate changes.

There is something magical about the Smithsonian museums. Deeply entrenched in amazing history, science, and education, the museums offer visitors both online and in-person a chance to explore like never before. The National Air and Space Museum brings science to life for students as they explore the museums exhibits and learn about everything from the planets to current research.

What�??s so great about the periodic table of elements? Chemicool will tell you! Students can explore the periodic table of elements, learn about scientists, and find out why science is so cool.
